    Why is it called XZN?

People ask: Why is it called XZN? Is an XZN the same as a spline drive?

What are triple square used for? The term XZN means Triple Square. XZN are a type of screw drive with 12 equally spaced tips, each with a 90 degree angle. These fasteners are commonly found on a variety German vehicles such as  BMW, Mercedes, Porsche and Volkswagen-Audi. The XZN-Style fasteners are  also found on other European and Asian cars. These screws/fasteners are used in some high torque applications such as cylinder head bolts and drive train components. Triple square bolts are common to early Porsche and Volkswagen constant velocity joints (CV). Note: XZN are not the same as a spline drive.

XZN have a 90 degree angle and spline has 60 degree.
