NUMBER 112300
Top Dead Center Pin Made in U.S.A.
This pin inserts into a hole on the engine block to lock the crankshaft/flywheel at Top Dead Center (TDC) position. It's essential for properly setting engine timing, preventing the engine from rotating freely during procedures like timing chain replacement, camshaft removal/installation, VANOS unit service, or cylinder head work. Without it, valves could contact pistons, causing severe damage.
Precision-machined metal pin inserts into the block to engage a slot on the flywheel/crankshaft. Commonly used on a wide range of BMW inline-4, inline-6, V8, and V12 engines, including:
Compatible models: Many 1990s–2000s BMWs such as E36 3-Series (318i, 323i, 328i, M3), E39 5-Series (525i, 528i, 530i), E46 3-Series (including M3), E34, Z3, Z4, X3, X5, and even some V8/V12 models like 7-Series and 8-Series.

NUMBER 113290
BMW Timing Cover Engine Locator Pins (2)
This kit consists of two small parts:
11 3 291 (Locking Clip/Clamp): A bent-wire "U" shaped clip used to hold the chain tensioner rail in a compressed position.
11 3 292 (Locking Pin): A small pin that slides into the hydraulic tensioner housing to lock the internal piston, preventing it from extending while the chain or VANOS unit is removed.
Primary Purpose
VANOS Service: To remove the VANOS unit, you must relieve tension from the secondary timing chain. These tools lock the tensioner in its compressed state so the chain remains slack enough for component removal but doesn't "jump" or fall out of reach.
Timing Chain Replacement: Used during the setup of the primary and secondary chains to ensure the guides and tensioners are out of the way while you align the camshafts.
Engine Compatibility
This tool set is most commonly used on BMW’s legendary inline-4 and inline-6 engines from the 1990s through the mid-2000s.
Engine Series Common Models
M42 / M44 318i, 318is, Z3 1.9
M50 / M52 325i, 328i, 525i, 528i (E34, E36, E39)
M54 / M56 325i, 330i, 525i, 530i, X3, X5, Z4 (E46, E39, E60, E53, E85)
Don't Forget Them: These tools are small and easy to leave inside the timing case. Most professional versions are painted bright red or have a "Remove Before Flight" style tag to ensure they aren't left behind, which would cause immediate engine failure upon startup.
Hand Tension Only: Never use a pry bar to compress the tensioner rail to fit the clip.
Sealing: Since you'll have the valve cover off to use these, it is the perfect time to inspect your Valve Cover Gasket and the VANOS seals if you haven't already.

Stubby Hex Allen Socket Set Two (2) Tools
Includes 7mm and 14mm with 3/8 drive
Sturdy, compact One-Piece design
Super S2 Alloy Steel -some of the STRONGEST Drivers available!
This specific combination of a 7mm and a 14mm hex socket is a classic "brake and drive train" set for BMWs.
While these tools are universal, BMW uses these two specific sizes for some of the most common maintenance tasks across almost their entire lineup from the 1990s through the 2020s.
Here is exactly what those two tools are used for on a BMW:
The 7mm Hex (Brake Specialty)
This is the "must-have" tool for BMW owners. Unlike most cars that use standard bolts, BMW (and many European manufacturers) uses a 7mm internal hex guide bolt to hold the brake calipers in place.
Fitment: Virtually every BMW model from the 3 Series (E30, E36, E46, E90, F30) to the 5 Series and X-models.
Primary Use: Removing the front and rear brake calipers during a brake pad or rotor change.
Note: This 7mm size is rarely included in standard tool sets (which usually jump from 6mm to 8mm), which is why we sell it specifically for BMWs.
The 14mm Hex (The Driveline Specialist)
This larger socket is designed for high-torque fluid plugs.
Fitment: Most BMWs with manual transmissions or specific differentials.
Primary Use: * Transmission: Fill and drain plugs for many manual gearboxes.
Differential: Drain and fill plugs for the rear differential on older models (like the E30, E36, E46) and some modern chassis.

NUMBER 115180
Flywheel locking Pin
115180 Top Dead Center (TDC) Flywheel Locking Pin
Special tool to lock the engine’s crankshaft at the exact Top Dead Center position.
This is a critical step when you are performing timing-related engine work, such as replacing a timing chain or adjusting the VANOS (variable valve timing) system.
By inserting this pin through the engine block and into a specific hole in the flywheel, you ensure the engine doesn't rotate while you're setting the cams.
This specific tool number (115180) is most commonly associated with the M62 V8 engine found in early-2000s SUVs and luxury sedans. It also has cross-compatibility with several diesel engines.
BMW X5 (E53): Years 2000–2003 (specifically the 4.4i and 4.6is models with the M62 engine).
Engine Compatibility:
M62 & M62TU: 4.4L and 4.6L V8 petrol engines.
M47 / M57: 2.0L 4-cylinder and 3.0L 6-cylinder diesel engines (often found in European models like the 320d, 330d, 525d, and 530d).
OEM Reference 11 5 180 (also replaces/cross-refs with 112300 in some kits)
Primary Chassis E53 (X5)
Primary Engine M62 (V8), M47/M57 (Diesel)
Typical Use Timing chain service, head gasket repair, or VANOS adjustment
Pro Tip: If you're using this on an X5, access to the locking hole is usually through a small rubber grommet on the bottom/side of the transmission bell housing. It can be a bit "tricky" to find the first time.

NUMBER 115490
Vanos Turning Tool for BMW
Sprocket Extractor and Installer Tool
15490 is a specialized VANOS Turning Wrench.
This tool is used to manually rotate the VANOS (Variable Nockenwellen Steuerung) units—BMW's variable valve timing system—on the camshafts during engine timing.
What exactly does it do?
When you are timing a BMW engine, the VANOS units must be set to a specific position (usually the "initial" or "retarded" position) before the timing chain is tensioned and the bolts are torqued down.
Because these units are spring-loaded or oil-pressurized, you cannot easily move them by hand. This tool hooks into the specialized splines or holes on the VANOS unit, allowing you to:
Rotate the VANOS to its end-stop during assembly.
Hold the unit in place while you tighten the mounting bolts.
Check the range of motion to ensure the variable timing isn't binding.
This tool is specifically designed for the M62TU (Technical Update) V8 engines. These were the first BMW V8s to feature VANOS on the intake cams.
Primary Models (roughly 1998–2005):
5 Series (E39): 540i
7 Series (E38): 740i / 740iL
X5 (E53): 4.4i and 4.6is (Pre-facelift models)
Engine Codes:
M62TUB35 (3.5L V8)
M62TUB44 (4.4L V8)
M62TUB46 (4.6L V8)
Tool Type2-Pin/Spline Spanner Wrench
OEM Number 11 5 490
Difficulty Level Advanced (Internal Engine Work)
Required Pairing Usually used alongside the 115180 locking pin

Number 114220SET3
Set includes 3 popular tension tools for BMW
114230
114220
113390
These tools are all Timing Chain Tensioners.
Specifically, they are "dummy" or "pre-tensioning" tools.
When you are timing a BMW engine, you cannot use the engine's actual hydraulic tensioner because it requires oil pressure to work. These manual tools screw into the timing cover in place of the real tensioner, allowing you to apply a precise amount of mechanical pressure to the chain guides while you set the camshaft timing.
Why do you need all three?
113390: This timing chain tensioner tool (often called a primary chain tensioner or retaining tool) maintains proper tension on the timing chain during engine work.
It fits BMW V8 engines M60 and M62 (including M62TU variants).
Common models: 5 Series (E34 530i/540i, E39 540i)
7 Series (E32 730i/740i, E38 740i)
8 Series (E31 840i)
X5 (E53 early models with M62)
Also sometimes referenced for certain M50/S50 applications.
114230: This is a rigid/secondary chain tensioner tool for V8 engines.
It fits the same BMW V8 engines: M60 and M62 (including M62TU).
Used alongside other timing tools for precise chain tensioning on these V8 setups.
Compatible models are essentially the same as above (E34/E39 5 Series V8s, E38 7 Series, E31 8 Series, etc.).
114220: This is a primary rigid chain tensioner tool.
It fits inline-6 engines with double-VANOS or similar timing setups, specifically M52TU (1998–2000), M54 (2001–2006), and M56 engines.
Common models: 3 Series (E46 323i/325i/328i/330i, some Z3/Z4)
5 Series (E39 528i/530i)
Z3, Z4, X3/X5 early models with these engines
Also works on some non-VANOS M52 setups for primary chain tensioning.
In summary, 113390 and 114230 are for BMW V8 engines (M60/M62 series) found in 1990s–early 2000s luxury/performance models like the E39 540i, E38 740i, etc.
While 114220 is for BMW inline-6 engines (M52/M52TU/M54/M56) in models like the E46 3 Series or E39 528i/530i.

NUMBER 3424
Spreader Socket
Similar to BMW tool 31 2 230.
Steering Knuckle Strut Clamp Spreader
Tool is for safely opening the pinch spindle to separate the steering knuckle from the shock/strut. Spreader Socket mainly for A4 platform including Golf Jetta Gti 337 20a.e. GTI 99 to present. Also 430i xDrive, M6, 535i xDrive, 440i xDrive, 745i, & more
This tool is needed any time the strut needs to be separated from the wheel bearing housing. Most common would be changing/replacing struts, coil spring, or the entire strut assembly. You would also use this tool when servicing the wheel bearing. You can not easily remove strut from wheel bearing housing without it. The wheel bearing housing clamps down very tight on the strut assembly-even with the bolt removed the housing is still firmly clamped to the strut. This socket allows you to spread the housing where it's clamped on so the strut can be removed.
Basically this tool is a must any time the strut/wheel bearing housing needs to be removed. Important Note: Late model pinch bolts may need a 14mm XZN socket tool (not included).
