Hand holding a star-shaped metal tool with a black rubber tip.

NUMBER MK-114180

Long "Turned-Down" Socket with Torx End

MADE IN U.S.A.

Features Machined Shaft to Allow Proper Clearance to Service Dual Mass Flywheel Mount Bolts, as They are Off-Center to the Access Point, Especially from Wear

Why is this tool needed?

The flywheel bolts on many BMW engines (especially older V8 models like M60, M62, S62, and some others) are positioned in tight/recessed spots behind the engine/transmission bell-housing.

A standard/short Torx bit or socket won't reach them properly without risking damage to the tool, bolt, or surrounding components (or it simply can't fit due to the depth and angle). This extended socket provides the necessary reach and strength to torque those bolts correctly during jobs such as:

Clutch replacement (manual transmission vehicles)

Dual-mass flywheel (DMF/ZMS) replacement

Transmission removal/installation

Crankshaft-related work where the flywheel needs to be removed or held, particularly common on 1990s–early 2000s BMW models like the E34/E39 540i, E38 740i, E39 M5, E46 M3 (in some cases), and other V8-powered cars with manual gearboxes.

Services E34 and E39 with the 4, 4.4 and 5 Liter with Standard Transmission and Manual Transmission, Including 530I with Dual Mass Flywheel (1993-1995), 540I with Dual Mass Flywheel (1993-2003)

Also Ford 3.5 Liter V6 Found in the Edge

Also for some Lincoln Mkx and Mazda Cx-9 Rear Bearing Assembly Mounting Bolts, as Shaved-Down Design Allows Clearance of the ABS Tone Ring.

NUMBER MK209

Pin wrench (also called a pin spanner)

Special tool used for precisely adjusting or tightening the gear lever pin (or related components) in the shift assembly on older classic BMW models like the E3 (New Six sedans, 1968–1977), E9 (CS coupes), E12 (first 5 Series), and E28 (second 5 Series, 1981–1988).

These early BMWs with manual transmissions often have a shift mechanism where the gear lever pin or associated lock/adjustment nuts require a tool with two pins to engage holes in a circular component for secure turning without damaging parts. Common during shift linkage adjustments, rebushing, or fine-tuning the selector for smoother shifting.

Older BMW: E3, E9, E12, E28 to adjust gear lever pin in shift assembly.

PORSCHE

911 930 Alternator Fan Pulley P209 Pin Wrench

Spanner wrench for holding the alternator from rotating during replacement of the fan belt. Porsche Reference number 999 571 047 02

Need to tighten that loose fan Belt? don't use a screwdriver to hold the pulley -

get the correct tool for the job! Keep in mind that correct fan belt attachment is essential to keep your engine running cool.

It is nearly impossible to obtain the correct tension on the fan belt pulley without this tool.

Important Tip: The pulley and fan belt must use six shims at all times, either on the inside or the outside. Make sure that you place the extra shims on the outside.

If you don't, the nut will bottom out and the fan belt will not tighten properly, no matter how hard you try.

NUMBER H2169

Hazet Oil Filter Wrench 74.4mm

2169 is a high-quality oil filter wrench with 14 Flutes (also called an oil filter socket or cap wrench) manufactured by Hazet, a premium German tool brand known for precision and durability in automotive applications.

BMW MOTORCYCLES

74mm oil filter wrench (typically a 74mm 14-flute cap-style socket) is commonly used for removing the oil filter cap/housing on certain BMW motorcycles, as well as some older or specific BMW car models. For BMW Motorcycles this size is frequently listed for models like: BMW R1200GS LC (2013–2018)

Some older Oilhead models (e.g., references to R1150 series compatibility in forums, though fit can vary by exact filter brand like Bosch or Mahle, and some users report needing 73mm or 76mm for better grip on certain aftermarket/OEM filters).

It's designed for oil filters with 14 edges/flutes, such as BMW part numbers like 11427721779 (or similar Mahle equivalents). Note that some BMW motorcycle filters (especially certain Bosch or HiFlo variants) may fit better with a 76mm wrench, as the 74mm can sometimes slip depending on the exact filter.

BMW CARS

Some older BMW models (e.g., certain 1990s examples like the Z3 1.9L from 1997) have been reported in enthusiast forums (e.g., Zroadster.org) to use a 74mm cap wrench for the oil filter housing. (e.g., some 1990s Z3, some early E36/E34 variants with specific filter housings)

NUMBER 1701T2

Long Thin wrench Set

32mm and 36mm

This special wrench set is often used to remove and install fan clutch nut and assemblies when replacing water pumps or doing other engine services.

Designed for confined areas when removing many fan clutches.

The slim design lets wrench fit into tight areas, and the extra-long length is ideal for fan shroud clearance.

Overall length 15 inches

Each tool is 1/4 inch thick.

The 32mm wrench in the BMW world, is an extremely popular tool that almost every owner of a pre-2010 model -would need to use at some point.

The 32mm is used to remove the thermostatic fan clutch from the water pump pulley. Most BMWs from the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s used a mechanical fan attached to the engine to pull air through the radiator.

The Problem: The fan sits very close to the radiator, and a standard 32mm wrench is usually too thick to slide between the fan blades and the pulley.

The Solution: This "thin" profile wrench (usually only 4mm to 5mm thick) slides into that tight gap perfectly.

This wrench fits almost every BMW engine produced from around 1983 to 2006 (and some up to 2010) that has a mechanical fan. This includes:

    3 Series: E30, E36, E46, and early E90 (6-cylinder models).

    5 Series: E28, E34, E39, and E60 (6-cylinder and V8 models).

    7 Series: E23, E32, E38, and E65.

    X Series: X5 (E53) and Z3/Z4 models.

Common Engine Codes: M10, M20, M30, M40, M42, M50, M52, M54, M56, M60, M62, and S50/S52/S54.

Important: REVERSE THREADS: This is the most important thing you need to know. The fan clutch nut is left-hand threaded. To loosen it, you must turn the wrench clockwise (toward the passenger side of the car).

NUMBER 4491-M21

Open Side Socket

21mm Open Socket (with cutaway side)

Sturdy 1/2 Inch drive
This open socket with cut-away design is to allow for

the easy removal and installation of the strut assembly.
It makes the job easier by holding the nut while

the strut shaft is turned with an Allen wrench (not included).

Why a strut nut socket?

To secure shocks and struts to their mounts, the retaining nut must be
torqued to its proper specification using a torque wrench. Strut nut sockets
allow for the use of an Allen wrench to hold the damper shaft while utilizing
your 1/2" drive torque wrench on the socket to achieve proper torque.
An improper torque value may result in premature mount failure - or worse.

The 21mm strut nut socket is a bit of a "heavy hitter" in the BMW world. While the 18mm and 19mm sizes handle most of the passenger cars, the 21mm is almost exclusively reserved for the heavy-duty suspension systems found in BMW’s SUVs and their largest luxury sedans.

Here is where you will most likely use a 21mm:

Primary BMW Chassis Fitment

The 21mm size is the standard for front struts on:

    X Series (SUVs): * X5: E70 and F15 generations.

     X6: E71 and F16 generations.

    7 Series: * F01 / F02: (Produced roughly 2008–2015).

5 Series Gran Turismo: * F07: (The 5 Series GT uses a chassis closer to the 7 Series, hence the larger 21mm nut).

Why the 21mm is Different

On these larger vehicles, the strut assembly is significantly beefier to handle the extra weight. Higher Torque: The 21mm nut usually requires a much higher torque spec than the smaller 3-series nuts.

Aftermarket Struts: If you are installing aftermarket performance kits (like Bilstein B8/B12 or certain Coilovers) on a car that originally had an 18mm or 19mm nut, the new hardware included in the kit often jumps up to a 21mm or 22mm nut.

Quick Reference Comparison

Socket Size Most Common Application

18mm Modern F-Chassis (3/4 Series, M2/M3/M4)

19mm Classic E-Chassis (E36, E46, E90, E39)

21mm Heavyweights (X5, X6, 7-Series, 5-Series GT)

Tech Note: Because the 21mm is used on larger vehicles, the "pass-through" hole in the center of your socket is usually wider to accommodate the thicker 10mm or 12mm Hex/Allen keys required to hold those massive strut shafts in place.

Open Side Socket

19mm Open Socket (with cutaway side)

Sturdy 1/2 Inch drive
This open socket with cut-away design is to allow for

the easy removal and installation of the strut assembly.
It makes the job easier by holding the nut while

the strut shaft is turned with an Allen wrench (not included).

19mm Socket (Old Standard)

Typical Era 1980s – 2011

Note: The 19mm size is common for older and "classic" modern generations.

Here is the breakdown of possible fitments:

Primarily BMW Chassis Fitment

This socket is most frequently used on the following models (generally front struts)

    3 Series: E30, E36, E46, and E90/E92.

    5 Series: E28, E34, E39, and E60.

    6 Series: E24 and E63.

    7 Series: E23, E32, and E38.

    Z Series: Z3 and Z4 (E85/E86).

    X Series: X3 (E83) and X5 (E53).

Crucial Compatibility Note

BMW transitioned many of their newer models (like the F-series and G-series 3 and 4 series) to an 18mm 12-point nut -see tool below.

If your BMW is roughly 2012 or newer, double-check your nut size. Many enthusiasts accidentally buy the 19mm only to find they actually need the 18mm for newer "F" and "G" chassis cars (like the F30, F80 M3, or G20).

NUMBER 4491-M18

Open Side Socket

18mm Open Socket (with cutaway side)

Sturdy 1/2 Inch drive
This open socket with cut-away design is to allow for

the easy removal and installation of the strut assembly.

Note: the 18mm socket is the "must-have" for almost all F-Chassis and many G-Chassis BMWs produced from roughly 2012 to the present.

Here is where the 18mm socket is most commonly used:

Primary BMW Chassis Fitment

The 18mm top nut is the standard for front struts on:

    1 Series: F20, F21

    2 Series: F22, F23, F87 (M2)

    3 Series: F30, F31, F34 (GT), F80 (M3)

    4 Series: F32, F33, F36, F82/F83 (M4)

    5 Series: G30, G31 (Newer generations moved to 18mm)

    X Series: F15 (X5), F16 (X6), F25 (X3), F26 (X4)

Why the 18mm is "The One" for Newer BMWs

BMW switched to a 12-point (bi-hex) nut for the top of the strut on most F-chassis cars.

Standard Sockets Fail: A standard deep-well 18mm socket won't work because you can't reach the center of the strut shaft to hold it still.

The "Spin" Problem: If you try to use an impact wrench on these newer struts without holding the center shaft, you risk tearing the internal seals of the strut or, in some cases, the EDC (Electronic Damping Control) wiring if equipped.

Compatibility

18mm Socket (New Standard) 2012 – Present F22, F30, F32, F80, G30

Pro-Tip: If your BMW has EDC (Electronic Damping Control), be extra careful. The wire for the dampening sensor often comes right out of the top of the strut shaft. This "windowed" socket is the only safe way to torque that nut without pinching or snapping those expensive wires.

If your BMW is roughly 2012 or newer, double-check your nut size. Many enthusiasts accidentally buy the 19mm only to find they actually need the 18mm for newer "F" and "G" chassis vehicles.
